For founders and CEOs
If you are about to post a first-of-its-kind leadership seat, the chart shows how many peers have one listed and how long those listings have stayed up.
For portfolio talent teams
A senior listing that has been up past 45 days is the conversation to have with the founder: what has the search turned up, and is the seat scoped right.
For hiring managers
Listings up for months often mean a seat that is hard to scope, not one nobody wants. The age chart shows how common that is.
Questions people ask
Does a listed leadership role mean the search is still running?
It means the role was on the company's public board on the day we read it. Some listings stay up after a seat is filled, and some searches never get a listing, so a listing is a reason to ask, not a confirmed search.
Which companies have the listings?
The dashboard names no company. It counts companies by seniority and by group, over the companies whose public boards we read.
How long is too long for a leadership listing?
There is no rule. The age chart shows how long the senior listings had been up on our read; listings up more than a year are left out, because a role listed that long is usually an evergreen posting rather than a search.
Is a company that posted nothing not hiring?
Not necessarily. Many companies hire through referrals, agencies and their own networks and never post, and many run no public job board we can read. A company with no posting we could read is unknown, so every figure here counts the companies that did post, and is the least of the group that was hiring a role, never the most.
Methodology and data
Window
One weekday board read, 2026-10-24; days listed from each board's own posting date.
Who is included
- Listed figures are over the 137 of the 462 companies we track whose public job board we read every weekday (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable), on the read of 2026-10-24. A company with no board we read is unknown, not quiet: it may hire through referrals, agencies or its own site.
- A senior role is a listed role whose title the rules read as C-level, vice president or head of; the engineering leader family alone is not used, because it includes staff and principal engineers.
Coverage
- 3372 roles were listed in all on that read. Senior listings: 138 at 51 companies, median 53 days up among those listed a year or less.
- Sales leader listings: median 38 days up among the 59 listed a year or less; 3 up more than a year are left out. Engineering leader listings (any seniority): 170 at 60 companies, median 62 days, 12 over a year left out.
- Groups with fewer than 5 boards read are left out of the by-group line.
Limits and caps
- Listings up more than 365 days are evergreen reqs and are left out of every age figure, counted where they are left out. No figure here is read from a posting coming down, and none says a seat was filled: who holds a seat is not in this data.
- A share is stated only over 30 companies or more; below that the page gives counts. Medians, never means. Rules dashboards@1.0.0 (src/lib/dashboards.ts, tested in test/dashboards.test.ts).
When each figure can be stated
| Figure | Stated from |
|---|---|
| Senior listings by seniority and by group, over the boards we read | today, as "listed on our read of" that day |
| Who holds a seat, when it changed, how long they stayed | never from this data |
| Whether a listing came down because the seat was filled | never from a job board |
