How long will this take?

The short answer

Not from a job board alone. A board shows when a listing comes down, never when someone is hired, so this page will show how long listings for each role stay up at companies like yours, and never how long a hire took.

What this page will measure

  • For each role, the share of listings still up after 30, 60 and 90 days, counted from the first day we saw them.
  • For listings that came down, how long half of them had been up.
  • Only within named groups of companies, and only where 30 companies qualify.

When it arrives: late January 2027

We began reading the public boards of the companies we follow every weekday in October 2026. A fair figure needs listings first seen after that, followed for about sixty days: late January 2027 for software engineer and account executive roles. Sales leader roles are posted on a board by too few companies to qualify at all.

For founders and CEOs

If your seat has been up a while, this page will show whether that is normal for the role at companies like yours.

For portfolio talent teams

For a portfolio, this page will show which roles stay listed longest, the seats where a founder most often needs help.

For hiring managers

If you are planning when a hire will start, this page will show how long similar listings stayed up. A listing coming down is not a hire, so read it as a lower bound on the wait.

Questions people ask

How long does it take to hire an account executive?

A job board cannot answer that: it sees a listing come down, which may be a hire, a pause or a repost. The page will show how long listings stay up, which is the honest part of the question.

Is a company that posted nothing not hiring?

Not necessarily. Many companies hire through referrals, agencies and their own networks and never post, and many run no public job board we can read. A company with no posting we could read is unknown, so every figure here counts the companies that did post, and is the least of the group that was hiring a role, never the most.

Status

Arriving late January 2027 (estimated 2027-01-25). Nothing is plotted on this page until the figures clear the published rules: a share over 30 companies or more, counts below that, medians only.
